Trust in science is an important topic and is under threat, especially in the digital age. To find ways of mitigating deteriorating trust in science, this seminar paper examines the possible ways digital citizen science can have a positive impact on society and if they may lead to more trust. The focus hereby lies on the aspect of fake news and its influence on trust. Existing literature shows that this matter has been looked at in some ways but to draw conclusions on the bigger picture, further research is needed and a proposal for an adequate project is a part of this work. The resulting recommendations for future citizen science projects are the papers' central findings.
